Quite honestly, I was bored with the first half of the book. The only reason I read on was because I had lived in DC at the same time the story took place and was acquainted with many of the people in the book. I found the author's style pedantic and rather boring, told as an academic historian might tell it. I wouldn't recommend this author. My book club gave it a definite thumbs down. The author gathered a tremendous amount of material to write a very interesting story about a beautiful lady who grew up in the upper-class and managed to stay there.This beautiful lady, Mary Meyer, went through several relationships and one marriage. Her husband worked forthe government (secret stuff), in Washington, DC. Mary ended up being one of John F. Kennedy's favorite lovers.Mary's closeness to JFK may have cost her to be killed after he had been assassinated.The author makes this a very interesting story with much detail. If Mary had listened to her soul she might have lived a much longer life.
